COMMON PROBLEMS AND TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS SLOW LIQUID PICK-UP OR NO PICK-UP AT ALL Check the filter; a decrease in suction rate may be a sign that the filter is clogged or damaged (possible warped due to autoclaving). To disassemble the nose cone, turn the nose counter-clockwise. The nose cone will disengage after approximately 1/8 turn. Remove silicone pipette holder. Remove filter and replace with new filter. Reassemble the nose cone. LEAKING/NOT HOLDING LIQUID PROPERLY 1. Check the filter 2. Tighten the nose cone and verify that the nose cone is tightly secured to the Pipetboy and that all nose cone pieces are present. 3. Check the silicone rubber pipettor mount. If the unit is old, the silicone rubber can become worn and stretched from use. If this happens, it will not crate a strong seal around the pipette, causing it to leak. 4. If none of this works, the valve block may be defective; it will need to be returned for service.

NOTE: TRANSFORMERS MUST BE SENT IN WITH ALL SERVICE RETURNS DOES NOT WORK AFTER OVERNIGHT CHARGE 1. Check the battery. If the battery is old, it may not be holding a charge well. Try replacing with a new battery. 2. Check battery contact points to see if they are pushed back. If so, try bending them forward. 3. Check the transformer. If the unit works with the transformer attached, the battery needs to be replaced. If it does not operate with the transformer, the transformer will need to be replaced. FLASHING RED LIGHT IS ON AFTER OVERNIGHT CHARGE 1. Check the battery. If the battery is old, it may not be holding a charge well. Try replacing wit a new battery. 2. Check the transformer. It may not be giving enough charge to the battery. If it does not work, either the transformer or PC board are defective. Check with a different transformer (PC board problem will need to be returned for service). MOTOR DOES NOT WORK Check transformer, battery, motor, PC board and micro switch. If they are able to verify that the battery and transformer are functional, the unit will have to be returned for service. PUSH BUTTONS ARE STICKING Unit has possibly had an overfill/contamination problem. Return for service. |
